Cochin International Airport is the first International Airport of India that is outside the control of the Government of India. The joint effort of Government of Kerala, NRIs, Traveling Public, Financial Institutions, Airport Service Providers and others brought the airport to existence. The Government of India owns only 13% of the shares and Cochin International Airport is a public-private partnership project. The airport is centrally located with the main city of Kochi just 30 km away. Cochin Airport is very well linked with three National Highways that pass through the state of Kerala namely NH 47, NH 17, and NH 49. The airport is well connected with the Kanyakumari-Delhi railway line. Apart from that Cochin Sea Port is located close to the airport. The airport is so designed that any type of large bodied aircraft may land and take off with least problems. Thus considering the prime location of Cochin International Airport it can be easily understood that Cochin International Airport is the seat of International trade, tourism and economy.
